Contrary to what some want to believe, KSHE is not owned by a massive, worldwide, conglomerate, 'corporate' giant who insists we only play what the board of directors, CEO, or 'suits' want us to play. KSHE is programmed, and always has been, by St. Louisians who are very passionate about KSHE, rock music, and the city of St. Louis. KSHE is owned by Emmis Communications who is based out of Indiana...polis, IN. In all, Emmis' Radio Division owns 21 radio stations in cities like St. Louis (4), Indianapolis (4), Terre Haute (4), and Austin (7). Emmis also owns the two most influential hip hop stations in the world, Power 106 in Los Angeles (1), and HOT 97 in New York City (1). Compare this to companies like CBS, Cumulus, and Clear Channel who own around 130, 460, and 850 radio stations respectively and it's clear that a station like KSHE cannot, and must not, operate like a corporate asset designed solely for profit on a massive balance sheet. KSHE 95 is the longest running rock & roll radio station in the United States and is licensed to the city of Crestwood, Missouri which serves the Greater St. Louis area. KSHE is located at 94.7 MHz and uses the slogan "KSHE 95, Real Rock Radio". The station's studios have been located in the Powerhouse building at St. Louis Union Station since the 1990s, while the transmitter remains in Crestwood....
